The servers were all very kind and accommodating. I ordered the lime marinated steak. The steak was juicy, tender, and very flavorful-the meat stole the show. Each of the Fork & Knife entrees come with two sides and an orange roll (psst. You might want to get a basket of orange rolls to go:)). I chose hot cheddar pasta and roast veggies as my sides. The pasta was good, but nothing special.
Oct 28, 2017 - Urban Cookhouse Prices and Locations. Greensserved with a warm orange roll. Chicken Salad And Fruit Plate7. Pepper Patch7. Millie Ray's Orange Rolls at Urban Cookhouse 'Came here on a Sunday. I ordered the chicken plate and my mom got the chicken salad meal. Texture and had smoked bacon, pepper jack cheese and white BBQ sauce. Pepper Patch.
Given the 'hot cheddar' in its name, I expected the pasta to be spicier, but it's really not that spicy. If you aren't a fan of spice but are a fan of mac and cheese, you're in luck and should give it a try. The roasted vegetables were flavorful, but a bit oily. 4 stars for the nice and clean atmosphere, outstanding service, and good food. I don't know if I will be a regular, but I certainly wouldn't mind going back and trying some of their other offerings. Definitely worth a try if you're in the neighborhood.
Downtown Homewood is perfect for a lunch and stroll on a warm, sunny day! 1/22/2018 I would normally give this restaurant five stars.until my experience tonight. We have eaten at Urban Cookhouse several times. With some meals you get an orange roll made for them by Milly's Orange Rolls. I have never eaten one, and am so glad I haven't.

Tonight, while standing in line, I looked at one of the packages of Milly's Orange Rolls for sale. One of the ingredients is margarine. I am allergic to MSG and all its derivatives.
The hydrogenated oils used in margarine is MSG. I was shocked and dismayed to learn that a restaurant that touts itself as 'farm to table' would serve something that does not contain natural/real ingredients. Now I am concerned about other items. I have sent the restaurant an email regarding this issue. Hopefully, they will be able to assure me that everything they use/sell has natural/real ingredients as is touted by their 'farm to table' mantra.
Urban Cookhouse recently moved locations from the main strip in downtown homewood to bear Aloft hotel and Michaels steakhouse. There is a small parking lot in the back and a drive through. My mom and I have been to UC numerous times but last week was our first time dining at their new location. I ordered the chicken plate and my mom got the chicken salad meal.
Both were very good. The chicken on my plate was very good. Good seasoning and flavor. The employees are very nice and service is great.
I like UC because it's a nice lunch place that has healthy options. I have had numerous entrees on the menu and not been unhappy with anything. I love their broccoli salad and orange rolls. I would recommend to anyone looking for a good lunch spot or healthier restaurant option.
